Aymeric Laporte absence is not a worry, insists Man City boss Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola played down concerns over Aymeric Laporte’s absence after Norwich took full advantage of defensive frailties to beat Manchester City 3-2 in Carrow Road.??
With no wounded Laporte, who is out until the new year after knee operation, the City back-line weren’t up to scratch because the Canaries ran out shock winners, reside on Saturday Night Football.
Before Sergio Aguero pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time goals from Kenny McLean along with Todd Cantwell had the side deservedly ahead.
But, with Kevin De Bruyne surprisingly just named as a substitute, the much-anticipated comeback never materialised since Teemu Pukki added a third following awful defending from Nicolas Otamendi.
A late strike from Rodri was small consolation for the people, who suffered their first defeat of the year to give a five-point lead in the summit to Liverpool.
Otamendi and also john Stones started three times in the Premier League last season, but Guardiola dismissed suggestions his side now have a glaring weakness.
The Catalan told Sky Sports:”It’s a partnership which has played with a lot. We’ve got Fernandinho and Rodri who will perform there in different conditions and it is not a worry. Things happen.
“We did not expect the harm and in over three decades collectively John and Nicolas have played together, and thanks to them we’ve won.
“Laporte is wounded and Kompany is currently in Anderlecht, so we cannot just analyse off it one game. We need to improve on this and hopefully we could do better”
Having hauled back the shortage, Otamendi and Stones lived one mix-up since Pukki raced onto a ball, only to skew his shot wide – but seconds after the striker made amends.
Stones rolled the ball Otamendi since the Argentinian dallied and also to the border of the box, Emiliano Buendia nipped in to steal ownership and put on Pukki’s sixth goal of the effort.
Guardiola slumped to his knees following the setback, however, bullishly included:”I know what we are as a team, I understand what we’ve achieved and I know what we will do again.
“I love my players, it’s a joy and an honor to be together, but it is a challenge at the highest level. We cannot anticipate to win every time and also to reach 90 points within.
“We’re going to have to recover, we head to Europe now, then we will come back.
“We understood the quality of Norwich and we have had a lot of days to work with it. Conceding goals is part of football, and in the long run we pushed a lot, but I have to congratulate Norwich.”
Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports:”The Laporte absence is your story at this time, make no mistake of it. I believed that in the summertime, after dropping Vincent Kompany they had to recruit.
“Matthijs De Ligt went to Juventus and he had the profile of what Town like to purchase, Harry Maguire went to Man Utd and it was unusual for them because their recruitment is usually spot on.
“You can’t foresee an accident like Laporte’s when he’s out for six weeks, however you have to be prepared for every eventuality. Right now, it is looking as though it could cost them”
