Former Germany Christoph Metzelder has been investigated by police of distributing child pornography over allegations.
An announcement from the office of the Hamburg attorney general stated the 38-year-old is accused of being delivered pictures with child content into a receiver in Hamburg via WhatsApp.
Hamburg police carried out two hunts in Dusseldorf on Tuesday.
Metzelder is said to possess co-operated together with the government.
The substance are now assessed, and the evaluation continues.
Metzelder won over 40 caps for Germany and was a part of their squads for the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.
The centre-back helped the Bundesliga title is won by Borussia Dortmund during a bout with the team.
