Joe Root: I’m the right man to lead England’s Test cricket team

Joe Root has insisted he is the man to carry England’s cricket team regardless of criticism of his own captaincy.
During the Ashes, Test captain Root scored 325 runs at 32.5, the third most runs from an England player and the sixth most complete.
He also took three wickets in 40.66 and created seven catches, with just wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow producing more for the hosts.
However his batting has endured and Australia retained the Ashes with a 2-2 draw, however, Root insists he’s the right man.
He explained:”I want to be 100 percent. I totally love it.
“I’m really honoured to captain England and I want to take this team forward.
“I really do think I am the right person to take action. Hopefully I can get the financing and that I can prove everyone .”
Even the 28-year-old Yorkshire batsman also admitted the famous strategy to turn to their game of England, culminating in their World Cup win this summertime, needed to be reproduced from cricket.
He continued:”Winning the Ashes back is really a massive focus for English cricket, it has to be now.
“Slimming down in Australia would be a great accomplishment and for me as Test captain I want to actually push that.
“We need to be as ready as we could be and that ought to begin today. I’m really excited about starting that this winter and it’s going to be a very exciting trip.”
T20 along with one-day vice-captain Jos Buttler said the team had the hallmarks of the captaincy of Root.
“Joe’s set his stamp on the team ! He’s been for a while. Of course we need more consistent benefits but we have got the makings of an excellent team.”
Bowler Stuart Broad added:”You just have to look at Joe’s captaincy list, and it’s more effective than most England captains. The players have been well aware we could be consistent, and we’re going to deliver that.”
